The winning design in a logo design competition for Ombudsman in Samoa is strictly following the brief, given to all competitors. The logo is based on a story of how cannibalism practices stopped in Samoa. The village was preparing a ceremonial gift for the high chief – human sacrifice. The sone of the chief found out that it was his best friend who was chosen for that unfortunate role. The son told the villages to cover him in mud and wrap in coconut tree frond and present to his father. The father was shocked to find his own son in such situation, he helped his son to get out of the wrap and up on his feet and proclaimed that human sacrifice is no longer to be done in the Samoan islands.
