Sustainable Waste Actions in the Pacific

Pacific island countries and territories offer rich ecosystems that are threatened by population and urbanisation growth and changing consumption patterns leading to increased waste generation.

Sustainable Waste Actions in the Pacific (SWAP) project provides technical support to the Pacific islands in the environmental and sustainable development sectors.

The logo depicts a traditional Pacific island fishhook in which the three waste aspects of the SWAP project are represented those being used oils, marine debris, disaster wastes with an overarching issue on sustainable financing mechanisms.

The traditional Pacific island fishhook represents a healthy Pacific Ocean from which many marine species thrive, and in turn help Pacific island communities thrive.

The colours of the SWAP logo represent land and ocean, highlighting what happens on land, will impact our ocean.

The logo represents an ongoing collective effort of the Pacific nations and their development partners in keeping the ocean clean from the waste and changing the mindset of people in regards to nature preservation and care.
